I read that somoene said java is a "crappy" language?

I read on a website that java is a crappy language for a group of programmers and mathematicians which are in love of C++ over other languages for web developing which sounds really interesting, how can that be true?, they talked about costing issues related with hardware and software support as the apparently reason, could someone help me understand why did they say that?.

I'm a programming major and just the opposite is true. C++ is a crappy language and practically a dead language like COBAL, that is the reason they developed C#. The truth is Java took what little there was good from C++ and used it, improved it, and added to it. C++ will be completely phased out within 5 years replaced by Java (which it mostly already has been) and C#

I know that microsoft flight simulator is c++ and I learned a little bit about c++ but microsoft flight simulator is really demanding of your computer so I think that c++ is what you are saying about java. Java has simpler online games and website things that I think are less demanding.

Reply:Java is more tolerant of people's mistakes. It tends to give more useful debug information and also doesn't allow you do do as many "dangerous" things as c++ or c do. However, this comes at the cost of speed and flexibility. Some people believe that Java's utility is in allowing crappy programmers to make somewhat stable programs. However, I think crappy programmers still make crappy Java programs. Although, I don't that much experience with Java I think that Java programs can be short that c++ programs and still perform the same function. In the end what language you use is partly determined by what you are working on. I prefer to use Python or C++. I like Scheme just for the hell of it.
