If you mean the java runtime environment, then probably you haven't installed it correctly, as I have installed it and it working fine with vista and IE7, try this:

1. open the "start" menu

2. select "control panel"

3. under "Programs" select "Uninstall a program"

4.Select "J2SE Runtime Environment...." and Uninstall it

Now you need to really download the latest java runtime environment, there is no jre6, the latest is jre5 update 11, this is the one i checked as i was writing this answer, download it from here:

I recommend the offline installation

then install as follow:

1. go to the folder where you downloaded the offline installation

2. Run "jre-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p-s"

3. select "typical" in installation options.

4. finish installation and restart

This should fix the problem - I hope :)
